Sean Mulhern & Co was established in 1992 in Boyle, Co Roscommon. Following rapid growth, a second office was opened in Sligo in 1995. The firm acquired the Boyle practice of J.A. Leonard & Co. (EST 1956) in 1997 and changed its name to Mulhern Leonard.

Meet the Team
Sean trained in a large North West practice and qualified as a Chartered Accountant before moving to industry to work as financial controller for a large indigenous manufacturing company in the North West. He then moved back to his native Sligo to set up his own practice. He is a fellow member of Chartered Accountants Ireland. Sean holds a Certificate of Personal Insolvency awarded by Chartered Accountants Ireland and is authorised by the Insolvency Service of Ireland as a Personal Insolvency Practitioner. Sean also advises on corporate restructuring and insolvency matters and has acted many times as liquidator in creditors, members and Official High Court liquidations. He also has extensive experience in dealing with financial institutions.
Sean has extensive experience in taxation and in all aspects of dealing with the Revenue Commissioners. He also has gained a wealth of experience in forensic accounting and has often served as an expert witness in court on behalf of both insurance companies and claimants.
Following graduation from D.C.U., David worked in a Dublin practice for a number of years, gaining auditing and systems experience. David is a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in Ireland and has also qualified with the Irish Tax Institute as a Chartered Tax Advisor. David advises on tax compliance or tax planning aspects in relation to personal, corporate or capital taxation. David has worked on a wide range of computerised accounting systems and also specialises in business plans and projections for new businesses.
Following graduation from The Institute of Technology Sligo, Freda joined Mulhern Leonard where she trained and qualified. Freda is a Fellowship of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland and an affiliate member of Chartered Accountants Ireland. During her time working in general practice she has gained a wide range of experience in auditing and accounting. She advises on accounting, auditing, tax compliance, tax planning, and statutory compliance matters. Freda is also a Registered Auditor.
Gillian joined Mulhern Leonard in 2008 having previously worked in practice and in the financial services sector based in I.F.S.C., Dublin. Gillian is a registered auditor and specialises in audit and assurance services to the S.M.E. Sector. In addition, she also provides services in relation to compliance with company secretarial requirements.
Kieran trained to become a chartered accountant with a practice in Sligo. Following qualification, he joined a ‘Big 4’ firm in Dublin, working as both an internal and external auditor on assignments for large corporate clients, not-for-profit organisations, government departments and state bodies. He then moved into the financial services sector, working with a multinational bank. A number of years working within the education sector followed before he returned to practice and joined our team in 2016. Kieran is a fellow member of Chartered Accountants Ireland and provides a range of services encompassing accounts preparation, taxation and consultancy.
Padraic joined Mulhern Leonard in 2013 having completed a Higher Diploma in Accounting and Corporate Finance in U.C.C. with 1st Class honours. Padraic qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2017 and provides a range of accounting, taxation and consultancy services to sole traders, partnerships and companies.
Michael has spent over 30 years in the Financial Services Industry. Michael left Bank of Ireland's commercial lending division to set up a Financial Services Intermediary business in 2003. Michael has extensive experience in all aspects of financial products and Life and Pensions to Investments to Debt restructuring/insolvency. Michael has an Honours B.Comm from NUI Galway and is a Qualified Financial Adviser (Q.F.A). He is a member of the Institute of Banking in Ireland and has recently passed the Institute's Professional Insolvency Practitioner Course. Michael is also a director of Sligo Financial Services Centre Limited, this company trades as Mulhern Leonard Debt Solutions. The Company is based in the Mail Coach Road office and is fully Authorised by the Central Bank of Ireland.
